Stay of King Cobra under Scanner

Recently, a King Cobra bit a worker in a zoo. The incident was so horrifying that it made the management think whether or not to keep the King Cobra. The management of Cuba City zoo has expressed their concern saying that releasing the cobra in the public area would prove dangerous.

The manager of Zoo, Giovanni Romarate said, “We don’t know if cross breeding will result in a very venomous kind of snake. Also, if we release the snake, it will either be killed by people or it could victimize more”.

However, Soham Mukherjee, an Indian wildlife expert recommended that the cobra should be released as they eat only snakes. Soon after biting the worker, the Cobra has refused food. The worker, Ronaldo, is recovering well at the Cebu City Medical Center.

He is on oxygen and fluid for quite some time. His breathing has turned to normal. The doctors monitoring the worker have informed that he will be discharged soon. However, the question still remain the same whether or not to keep the cobra. Investigation of the incidence would be carried out to make sure no negligence was caused by the worker while feeding the cobra.
