As per a recent report, it has been shockingly revealed that the US Food and Drug Administration regulators have asked doctors in the nation to go for a flawed device to treat heart patients.
The report finds that the suggestion to X-ray patients with such a device amazed all doctors, while forcing them to raise questions. Since, the device was once used to remove leads from the heart, but raised complexities and electrical malfunctions for them later.
It has been found that X-rays are conducted so as to extrude leads i. e. loose wires in the heart. But, at the same, doctors say that it is extremely dangerous if done.
“They’re saying, if the cables are extruded, you should pretty much just watch the patient. If the cables aren’t extruded, you should [still] pretty much just watch the patient”, said the cardiac arrhythmia service’s Chief Laurence Epstein from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
However, the FDA is still suggesting the same for the reason that Riata devices with such leads are also being used. It says that the St. Jude Medical Inc. heart device should also be used followed by watching patients carefully. It is being believed that the step would help in managing health care better.
As per a new study published today in Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, patients of breast cancer are able to manage their pain and other symptoms better if they have family and friends on their side to support them. The study was done with an intention to study that how social support can affect the patient's quality of life.
