On Sunday, Mark O’Shea, a world-famous reptile expert and TV wildlife personality was bitten by a deadly 10ft king cobra on his leg, following which he was immediately flown to Worcestershire Royal Hospital from West Midlands Safari Park in Bewdley, Worcestershire.
According to reports, now he is out of danger and in a recovery stage. This presenter of Channel 4's O'Shea's Dangerous Reptiles, when bitten by the snake did not had any kind of serious effects at the scene, but for precautionary sake was rushed to the hospital because if the venom entered the blood stream, it might become lethal for him, as told by paramedics.
As told by Bob Lawrence, head of wildlife at the safari park, an immediate and stringent treatment was started upon the 56-year-old O’Shea to prevent any kind of risk to his life. He added, "We have a very well-rehearsed protocol for anything involving venom and we have anti-venom on site".
Being questioned further regarding the incidence, Bob explained that though it is always very dangerous to work with such animals, but then it is quite rare that such an incident takes place in the zoo. Therefore, an investigation to find out what actually happened that day; will surely be carried out.
