Pigs likely to get banned in Fares for Ongoing Swine Flu Pandemic

A new strain of swine flu has been found in the Unites States, which has been affecting a lot many people. One thing that is being noticed is the change in the handling of swine flu in comparison to 2009’s outbreak.

Last time, the government was criticized to an extent, but this time they have been trying that every step should fall at its place. One of the advices being passed out to general population is not to consume anything at the time when they visit pig barns at fairs. Not only this, they have also asked to maintain proper hygiene levels after people come back home from pig barns.

Michael Osterholm, who is a prominent flu expert, was of the view that each and every step is being taken to make sure that history does not get repeated. He further affirmed that he has recommended fare organizers to not to include pigs this time and keep them rest at their homes.

"I'm convinced that wherever you have pigs and fairs right now you're seeing this transmission --at least in North America”, further asserted Osterholm, who is heading the Center for Infectious Diseases Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.
