It is not the first time when it has been said that chocolate is good for heart. This time again, it has been revealed through a study that dark chocolate and cocoa is good for treating blood pressure.

The current study has assessed more than 856 people and in order to do the same, they have conducted 20 trials. Lead researcher Karin Ried, who works with the National Institute of Integrative Medicine in Melbourne, was of the view that main reason of consuming chocolate or cocoa powder is that they contain flavanols.

These flavanols produces nitric oxide in the body, which works to reduce the thickness of blood-vessel walls and helps the blood pass through with ease. It seems that the opinion on the same is quite different, as it has been found that the Heart Foundation has different approach towards the same.

The Heart Foundation was of the view that despite the claims being made by study researchers, it cannot be ignored that it contains saturated fat. "Although we don't yet have evidence for any sustained decrease in blood pressure, the small reduction we saw over the short term might complement other treatment options”, said Karin while he answered the queries of the foundation.
