Time and again, it has been promised by the government that they will improve the maternity services at the NHS. However, a survey has unveiled that things have not improved yet.
The survey being taken out by the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) and Bounty Parenting Club, is based on the answers of 1,828 expecting mothers and women who have children of up to two years.
The survey has unveiled some of the shocking facts, like about 18% women have said that they were left alone during their labor time.
Not only this, the survey also unveiled that expecting mothers were not given one midwife, who would handle their case from the start of their pregnancy to the time they deliver baby, as per ministerial promise. Many women have said that a new midwife has taken care of them every time they have needed an antenatal check up.
About 20% of the women have revealed that they are not given an option on how they want to have their baby birth. In fact, women are not provided with an option where they can choose a midwife led unit.
“This important survey demonstrates clearly that more progress can and should be made to improve patient experiences of maternity services. The government needs to respond positively to this evidence”, said Katherine Murphy, who is the Chief Executive at the Patients Association.
As per a new study published today in Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, patients of breast cancer are able to manage their pain and other symptoms better if they have family and friends on their side to support them. The study was done with an intention to study that how social support can affect the patient's quality of life.
