Heavy Belly Patients at risk of Cardiovascular Diseases

It has been proved several times that obese people are always at a higher risk of heart diseases and stroke but recently a study has proved that those who are not obese but have tiers around their waist area are more prone of getting attacked by these lethal illnesses.

So don’t take it casually if your weight is under control but your waist line is going out of approach; it can still be dangerous for you.

According to researchers, in case of obesity, most of the times the excess weight gets accumulated on thighs and hips and therefore it reduces the risk of such a problem.

For conducting this study, doctors from the Mayo Clinic in the United States scrutinized the health records of 12,785 people over a period of 14 years. All of them were between the age group of 40-45 years. Body Mass Index, the ratio of weight and height of an individual along with their waist-to-hip ratio were recorded.

As a result, the researchers were surprised to see that out of this group when a total of 2,562 patients died during this period, out of them, around 1,138 were caught by a cardiovascular problem including heart disease or stroke. And patients with a high waist-to-hip ratio were 2.75 times more likely than obese patients to die from these conditions.
