American cardinal of the Catholic Church, Francis Eugene George will be abiding by the advice of his medical team, who recommended him to undergo chemotherapy sessions.

In a statement by Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago this Tuesday, Cardinal George will be commencing with his chemotherapy next week, which will last for the next four months.

The eighth and current Archbishop of Chicago, 75-years old George, faced hard times struggling bladder cancer six years ago. Recently, doctors informed him that cancer has recurred and they have identified cancerous cells on his liver and one of his kidneys.

Archdiocese affirmed that biopsy test conducted last week, assured that the cancerous lump on cardinal’s liver has been removed and no chances of cancer recurrence. However, doctors have raised concerns over the malignant lesion discovered in the right kidney. However, as it is difficult to identify the deadly cells in the bloodstream, doctors have not been able to confirm their presence anywhere else in the body.
