Researchers at the National University of Ireland have possibly reached to the source of rosacea, a chronic red skin condition, according to a recent report.

Rosacea is an illness that mostly targets fair-skinned females, the report says, especially those between 30-50 years in age. While in some cases, it causes skin lesions often resulting in disfigurement, the disease usually leads to facial flushing.

Also, the same further makes blood vessels beneath the skin to swell thereby, causing the face look like a spider. One in every 10 northern Europeans suffers from the same each year and amongst them, Cynthia Nixon and Cameron Diaz are also two victims.

It is being said by the team that the onset of the painless yet embarrassing condition is most probably seen because of a particular type of bacteria. Demodex species is worm-like in shape, which lives on human skin, generally harmlessly. Yes! This bug does not attack from outside the body, but rather it does the same residing inside tiny mites living on faces only.

Lead author Kevin Kavanagh suggests, “We could look at controlling the population of Demodex mites in the face. However, some pharmaceutical companies are already developing therapies to do this”.
