A group of neuroscientists at the University College London has been developing a technology named as pain map. The technology will let know the researchers about the exact location and intensity of the pain.
Study researchers were of the view that they have used brain-scanning technology in the device. Brain signal will help them to know about the level of pain from which one has been suffering. A lot many things will get clear from the technology. One of the things that study researchers want to clear is whether women feel more pain than men, or not.
Dr. Flavia Mancini, who is positioned as a cognitive neuroscientist at the university, was of the view that one of the reasons for developing the technology was to provide a new and better way in the place of existing way of detecting pain.
Currently, doctors assess the level of pain through one to 10 point scales, but it is said to be largely unreliable. However, the new way seems to be quite effective, said Mancini. He further affirmed, "In the future, we see this as a way to track pain in patients as there is a signal in the brain that corresponds to the current pain”.
