5 Whales Rescued in South Florida

Out of 22 whales, only five whales were rescued. Meanwhile, rest of the whales were either euthanized for some reason or died naturally. There are two calves and three juveniles, which have been rescued in South Florida.

All the rescued whales have been taken to Harbor Branch Institute, which works under Florida Atlantic University. The institute will make sure that all the rescued whales are being provided the right treatment and efforts will be made to ensure that all whales are able to survive.

Dr. Michelle Davis, who is a senior veterinarian for SeaWorld Orlando, was of the view that they have been feeding whales with fish smoothies after the gap of every one hour. Even one person is assigned for every whale to check that there is no problem being suffered by any of the whales.

Davis is especially concerned about the smallest whale in the group, which is under two years old. “The baby is swimming around the group, calling and whistling for the mother, so we’re working to become the mom “, further affirmed Davis.

There is no time limit set for whales, as when they will be released back in the ocean. For now, they are just ensuring that all the whales get strong enough to survive.
