Heavy Drinkers at risk of Intracerebral Hemorrhage, says study

Risk of intracerebral hemorrhage has been noticed due to heavy drinking, says a study, which has been published in the journal Neurology. The study has warned that people, who drink heavily, are at risk of suffering from bleeding stroke.

Moreover, these people also suffer an increased chance of suffering from stroke and that also 15 years before than people, who do not drink to that extent. It shall be noted that though the study researchers talked about the stroke, they cannot say how heavy drinking leads to stroke.

In order to reach at the above given result, the study researchers have assessed 540 French people, who were aged in their 70s. Study researchers asked question from them as well as from their family members about volunteers drinking habit.

It was found that 25% of the total numbers were heavy drinkers. According to study researchers, heavy drinkers were the ones, who consume three or more drinks in a day. In order to reach at a concrete conclusion, the study researchers made volunteers to go through CT scans and then evaluated their reports.

“The study does add to our knowledge that excessive drinking is bad for our health in a variety of ways, including increased risk of bleeding into the brain”, said Deepak L. Bhatt, who is a heart doctor at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston.
