Mentally Ill Warriors to Receive More Money for Care

The federal government in the city of Ottawa in Canada has decided to provide more support to mental health sufferers amidst wounded warriors from now on, a recent report has uncovered.

According to the defense minister Peter MacKay, mental health is no longer a weakness. Rather, people’s attitudes are changing regarding the same. It is being said that instead of seeing it as a shame to discuss, it is now time to encourage patients to come up and open up. Since, mental illness is no less than physical injury as it also upsets one’s life almost to the fullest.

Besides, the minister is of the opinion that a victim should not have impact of the illness on his career. An amount of $11.4 million from the annual budget has thus been planned to be granted only particularly to help counsel soldiers. It has been told that four psychologists with 11 addictions counselors would be recruited using the money.

Also, psychiatrists, 13 in number, 13 social workers and 10 mental health nurses would be appointed with improvement in chaplain services.

"Serving members who served our nation who now require our assistance to heal, to improve their quality of life are a priority for me”, he added.
