An inquiry has been called over Ford Motor Co. after receiving compliant about defected steering wheels in the cars of Crown Victoria police cars. The car manufactured in 2005 to 2008 will be investigated for the defects.
It is estimated that about 1, 95,000 cars would be investigated for the defects. The complaint against the car manufacturer was filed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It has been reported that about three complaints have been received against the automobiles.
About ten other complaints have also been received. Besides, Ford has also recalled about 5,500 cars as fault was found in the fuel tanks. Although defects have been found in the cars, no accident or harm has been reported.
Ford has informed that the supplier of the fuel tank is Cooper Standard Automotive. The spokespersons of Ford were not reachable for comments. However, it has been informed that Ford will take steps to make sure that such incidence won’t occur again.
In one of the complaints, it was written, “The operator was able to bring the vehicle to a safe stop, but they had just begun to accelerate from a traffic light when the shafts separated and the vehicle’s speed was minimal”.
