Nevill Hall Hospital recently received a complaint from the family of a patient regarding the posting of insulting comments and photograph of the patient on the social networking site. The elder patient is in 70s and is admitted to the Nevill Hall Hospital.

The alleged photograph of the patient was taken in her ward, claim the family members. A spokesperson of the Hospital has confirmed that investigation of the case have been called by the board members of the Hospital.

The spokesperson for Aneurin Bevan Health Board informed that the use of mobile in the hospital is limited to attending and making phone calls. People, visitors, medical staff and even patients are not allowed to take photograph in the hospital.

Following the complaint by the elder patient’s family members, the hospital authorities have asked the Facebook to take off the picture. Lindsay Whittle, a member of South Wales East assembly, is supporting the patient and her family members.

Mr. Whittle said, “It is extremely insensitive…to post comments of such a derogatory nature on a forum such as Facebook… Perhaps restricting the use of mobile phones on hospital wards needs to be looked at”. It is hoped that culprits behind the incidence will be brought to light soon.
