It has been revealed in a new report that a research that was previously appreciated for galvanizing the global warming movement is now being chided as it had also released government documents in an improper way.
Charles Monnett, a scientist from Alaska, had conducted the research, in which drowned polar bears were observed. But, it is being said by deputy director of BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) Walter Cruickshank that the government documents release by Monnett later was used against the agency as well in court.
An inspector general's investigation led to the revelations. It was found that the emails disclosed were used by a federal appeals court in several decisions so as to vacate approval by the BOEM of Arctic exploration plan of an oil and gas company.
It had discovered some other things hinting to Monnett's misconduct, but the same have not been disclosed. Also, no action is being taken on Monnett. However, it has been warned by Cruickshank that any more of such misconduct, which is a very serious type, would definitely call for a severe discipline.
It is being said that Monnett may also face removal from federal service in that case. However, Jeff Ruch on Monnett's behalf said that Monnett has only been confused by the investigation outcome.
