SpaceX Ready for First Cargo Launch

SpaceX Ready for First Cargo Launch

As per a recent report, it has been revealed that Space Exploration Technologies is ready to launch its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule. The success of the same would mean restoration of a supply line in the US that goes to a station.

The station had been discontinued by the space shuttles’ retirement last year. The company, which is the first to have a voyage to the International Space Station, is launching the cargo as part of a contract with NASA.

The aim is to deliver supplies and the contract is worth some $1.6 billion, the report finds. It is being said that the cargo is the first mission of the company to the orbital outpost. NASA was dependent on European, Russian and Japanese freighters for servicing the station at first.

The reason was the retirement of Space shuttles. Though, SpaceX is now ready to perform the work on the permanently staffed research laboratory, which flies above Earth by around 250 miles. It has been found that a practice run was made in March to the orbital outpost worth $100 billion and cleared the path so the first 12 cargo could run.

The cargo is to go on Sunday at 8:35 pm EDT from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
