A recent survey has brought out an increased figure of new parents who preferred turning to drinking to ease the strain and help them cope with their family life.
Above are the findings of the survey that was recently run for the charity 4Children, which runs Sure Start centres and youth services across the country. The survey included approx 575 men and women (most of them new parents) with hundreds of parents of under-16s to check upon their alcohol intake especially after birth of their first child.
Experts found that one in six people increased their alcohol intake after the birth of their first child. Though few parents curtailed their drinking on the arrival of their first baby, 23 percent people reported usual drinking habits as earlier, 17 percent said they have increased their intake after becoming parents, 5 percent mothers said their consumption of alcohol during their pregnancy was higher than earlier, and 19 percent parents believed that their drinking had a positive impact upon their children.
Overall, the results concluded turning of many parents to drinking with a belief that the habit will help them easily cope up with the changes to their family lifestyle.
