If Mote scientists are to be believed then the region is under the affect of the largest red tide bloom that has so far bloomed off Sarasota's coastline since 2007. So, if people are feeling any tickle in their throat or irritation in their cough while being at a beach, it is definitely nothing other than the effect of the red tide and algae bloom that has taken over the atmosphere.

Health experts have explained that the algae cause problems to the people with respiratory problems and moreover, it also causes large fish kills along with severely affecting or almost killing the business along the beaches.

According to the reports, this red tide and the algae bloom has so far stretched to 100 miles long from Charlotte County up to Pinellas County.

The affect can be seen over animals too and so have the Sarasota County officials started issuing warning signs at the dog park on Venice Beach for the referred information along with advising the pet owners to not let their animals go for swimming.

"They love it. It's their favorite place to go," said dog owner Mr. Blaise Kovaz, who is still letting his dogs take a dip despite the issued warnings.
