The World Health Organization recently released a report showing a downward trend in TB death cases. However, in the report the World Health Organization laid emphasis over the need of establishing a control over drug-resistant TB cases.

India and China are facing highest cases of drug-resistant TB. About 60,000 drug resistant TB cases have been reported by the two countries. The report titled, Global Tuberculosis Report said that the current medicines are not effective enough. Through the report, the World Health Organization has asked the health experts to find effective medicines to treat TB.

It has come to light that the report had been made after collecting data from 204 countries. During the compilation of the report, the World Health Organization found, “51 million people have been cured and 20 million lives have been saved”.

Although the news is good, more is needed to be done so that the current TB cases could be helped with. It has also been found that all the countries are not witnessing a decline in the new TB cases. It is hoped that the authorities will take the findings seriously and will act accordingly.
