Marburg Fever Haunts Uganda’s Tourism Industry

It seems that confirmed news of death of some four people in the Kabale District in Southwestern Uganda has sent fears in Uganda's tourism industry of potential consequences of Marburg Fever. It was told that post Ebola outbreak in Uganda's Kibale district, a toursist visa was denied and there are chances of many more to be refused too looking at the severity of the disease unless they have taken Yellow Fever inoculations on their own. They would have to show the certificate too in case they have fulfilled the condition to the authorities concerned.

"We are reassuring our tourists that they need not worry as those places in the North are far from tourist routes, but the Kabale thing is, of course, at the crossroads to Kisoro and Mgahinga and to Bwindi, and that is not so good", said a regular commentator from Kampala while assuring that tourists are safe enough right now.

The Marburg virus disease is reported to be transmitted through bodily fluids such as saliva and blood, along with getting in touch with infected wild animals such as monkeys. It was in 2007 that the disease hit Uganda, and with the scar again haunting, it would be worth seeing how it is being dealt this time.
