District Government Takes over Health Plan; Eases Care Providers’ Fears

A recent report has unveiled that the district government has decided to take over its largest health contractor. Though, the same has not helped in removing the concerns fully, it certainly has eased care providers' worries to a large extent.

Control of Chartered Health Plan has been seized by Insurance regulators on Friday. Since, the company's accounting was found to have serious irregularities.

It has been told that a small reason why anxiety still prevails amongst them is the effects on the system of provision of health care to those in need. They were of the belief that the city's half-billion-dollar system may adversely suffer.

However, now it is being said that the government's move would allow Chartered to go on with its operation until April. Since, the contract signed by it is to end by then only. Eventually, the same would prevent a rapid withdrawal from throwing providers as well as patients into chaos.

"It would have totally destabilized the system. Any time patients change, there can be bureaucratic problems. My hope is that it stays intact without any destabilization until the spring", chief executive of Unity Health Care Vincent A. Keane was quoted as saying. The Care is a network of 29 clinics, which work for low-income residents.
