DARPA’s Robotic Mission Starts

DARPA Robotics Challenge organization wants robotics to rise to the challenge of disasters and for the fulfillment of their aim; they have already decided the team of experts, who will be creating such robots.

The organization has announced about the top teams in its speech of today clearing the fact that the experts will be competing to design such fantastic robots, which will be help to prevent the compounding of human peril in manmade and natural disasters too.

The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster devastated the "Fukushima 50" ventured into a nightmare scenario, experts believe that the robots will help in preventing such nuclear meltdown and so has DARPA decided to build robotic substitutes to waste no individual's life against dozens or more of others.

Dr. Gill Pratt is the program manager for the challenge. He explained that the program's focus on humanitarian assistance in disaster response is among the 10 primary missions of the U. S. Department of Defense that were laid out by the White House and the Secretary of Defense in January 2012.

DARPA has divided the participating teams of experts into two tracks i. e. Track A teams, which will create the robots and the software and Track B teams, which will provide the Boston Dynamics-designed Atlas robot, the descendant of Pet-Proto, along with software for them.

Results are expected by the year 2013.
