Pancreatic Cancer Treatment Needs Personalized Approach

Pancreatic Cancer Treatment Needs Personalized Approach

After carrying out a research to identify the genetic makeup of pancreatic cancer, lead researcher Chris Scarlett from Newcastle University has reached at a conclusion that pancreatic cancer is not just one disease.

So, it will be better if experts stop considering that one treatment will be enough for pancreatic cancer. Different ways will be needed to target different tumors of pancreatic cancer. The research, which has been published in the journal 'Nature', has also revealed that genomes of 100 pancreatic tumors were being studied.

Scarlett said the findings will prove quite beneficial at the time when new approaches will be needed to tackle the cancer. Though a number of treatments will be changed due to the study, Scarlett said further study will help to bring more personalized treatments for the cancer.

"This is going to lead off into multiple, exciting and interesting and important studies to really understand what's going on with this horrible disease", affirmed Scarlett.

In addition, it has been revealed that a group of researchers from Institute for Molecular Bioscience, Queensland in association with international researchers are going to initiate a study on pancreatic cancers. It is expected effective treatments come up through these researches.
