An investigating team has shed light over the fact that the caffeine amount that one thinks he is consuming may be much less than the energy drinks actually contain. Though, the US `Food and Drug Administration' does not regulate these drinks, incident reports by it that such beverages are centered on high caffeine content have raised concern.
It is being said that normally, above 300 milligrams caffeine in a day is not recommended for an adult. However, a large number of energy drinks contain this much amount only. And as per an Amarillo cardiologist's say, in the right dose, almost anything can prove poisonous.
It is very obvious that every person consuming energy drinks will not necessarily have pre existing heart conditions. But, after drinking these and that too, in a high amount, they would surely be a patient of such conditions. Many death cases have already been reported.
"They can actually develop seizures and heart dysrhythmias where the heart just doesn't pump properly, which results in a lack of oxygen to the brain and or other organs", says Texas Panhandle Poison Center's Jeanie Jeramillo.
However, the company has not stopped claiming that the drinks are safe. But, it is being suggested that take only one regular coffee i. e. an eight-ounce cup and pregnant women and children should be careful.
