Antarctica as well as Southern Ocean strike a picture of cold and isolated life around with numerous ice sheets and glaciers. As per a recent report, it is this extremely cold area only where marine life would still be found, enormously.

It is likely the reason why a number of researchers name the region with harsh winds amongst the world's last frontiers. It is being said that an intrepid explorer would easily find oddly shaped sponges along with bottom-dwelling creatures that cover the seafloor and strange fish that has white blood.

No doubt, it is a completely icy region; the researchers say that life is full-fledged there. Even on top of glaciers, seals and penguins would be seen in large numbers. And sheets of ice would also be having seabirds and other such creatures if one visits.

All this is despite the continent, 1.4 times the area of the US, being driest, highest as well as coldest on the Earth. It is also the windiest on the whole planet as compared to other continents.

Dr. Sylvia Earle, Mission Blue Founder and National Geographic explorer-in-residence, says, "A few nations, a few companies, a few industries are taking on a large scale without paying a cost. They are depleting what belongs to everyone, and they are doing it in a heartbeat of geologic time".
