Chief executive of TalkTalk Dido Harding is of the belief that the fibre broadband market is not much competitive if compared to the copper market. It is therefore as per a recent report that she is expressing a room for more competition in the superfast broadband market of the UK.
The Huawei Broadband Forum in London has heard by her that a boost in the competition would help the broadband market to enhance its superfast services. Since, the present day sees BT Retail and Virgin Media as the two suppliers of a superfast broadband with some 95% consumers going for the same.
But, copper is overdoing fibre, since copper makes a difference in what it offers and the prices of the same. As per the findings, the Birmingham City Council has proposed a plan to develop a public sector funded network of superfast broadband and BT and Virgin Media protested against the same.
Since, they are of the belief that the plans mean a complete waste of public money and their own fibre networks could bring significant overbuild. Following the same, the CEO has made the comments. "We're not in as good a place as we like to think we are in terms of a competitive landscape for superfast broadband", she said.
