Government Asking For Double Money from Elderly

It has been recently revealed that in the time to come, many elderly people could be asked to shell out sums of £60,000, for their old age care. This would tend to be nearly the double of the £35,000 capital that had been earlier suggested by the government.

It was revealed that the Chancellor George Osborne is not for the older sum quoted, because it would mean a sum of about £2billion for the treasury.

This increasing rates would mean that people, who have been paying all their lives to fill the pockets f the government, will now also have to apparently sell their personal belongings to be able to make a safe future for themselves.

It has been opposed by the campaigners and they are of the view that it is the government’s responsibility to make funds for the elderly, after they have already paid them their entire lives. The deteriorating conditions of the care homes in the nation are also a major cause of worry. It is essential for the government to be able to make for the comfortable care of the elderly. They need to be assured that they are going to be given the basic utilities as well as other comforts and medical needs they shall require in the time to come.

The campaigners have advised the ministers to remain true to what they had earlier promised and look up for the rest of the funds from the treasury itself.

“The Government has made clear time and time again the nature of the crisis. Now is not the time to run away from radical reform by diluting the Dilnot recommendations”, said Michelle Mitchell, from Age UK. It’s a matter of time to see how things go from here on and what turn the events take in the time to come.
