It has been reported that British Nobel Prize winners, Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, have come up with a unique usage of grapheme. A ground breaking experiment over the graphene helped the two researchers to grab the Novel Prize in 2010.

However, recently it has been informed that the graphene is capable of blocking all the gasses except water. The graphene is the thinnest carbon sheet. Its measurement is thinner than that of hair. In an experiment, the researchers showed that when gases and liquid is exposed to graphene they get blocked from passing tone side from other. However, water is the only element or compound which can't be blocked by the graphene. During the experiment, the water flowed smoothly even when it was blocked by the graphene.

When it was found that the graphene is capable of blocking helium but not water, Sir Andre said, "Helium gas is hard to stop. It slowly leaks even through a millimetre-thick window glass but our ultra-thin films completely block it. At the same time, water evaporates through them unimpeded. Materials cannot behave any strange".

The findings have been published in the journal Science. It has been claimed by the researchers the presence of Graphene is helpful in distilling alcohol. In an experiment, the researchers sealed a bottle of vodka with Graphene membrane and found that the distilled water of the vodka turned stronger.

The researchers informed that although they didn't consume the alcohol, they really enjoyed the experiment. It is yet another remarkable property of graphene which has been found by the researchers. The researchers are hopeful that their findings would help in filtering and distilling alcohol. Further research would be conducted to gauge the other benefits of Graphene.
