It seems that it would take some time before the effective CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) would be able to replace the traditional incandescent light bulbs. In order to make people aware about the benefits of using CFLs, there is significant pressure being maintained by the Obama administration.

It has been known that in 2007, President George Bush had signed the Energy Independence and Security Act 2007, which paved way for an effective and productive standard for light bulbs. However, little was known that the light bulbs used majorly could put burden on the pockets of common man. Adding more worry is the fact that it could even put the economy under strain as there would be ample pressure built on the power scenario of the country.

There is a need to make people aware about the dark side of using old-fashioned incandescent bulbs and promote CFLs. It is being believed that irrespective of what comes way, there must not be any compromise made on the environment. It was even made aware to the manufacturers also that they must make bulbs which consume less power. It is being believed that the way things have changed in the recent past, there is significant variety available to consumers to choose from incandescent bulbs, compact florescent bulbs, or LEDs.

"It's just that before, if you bought a bulb that produced 100 lumens ( a measure of light) it would be a 100-watt bulb. Now you can buy a 100-lumen bulb that needs only 70 watts”, said Joseph Higbee, spokesman for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, who is of the say that saving energy is the chief prerogative of companies now.

It is necessary that instead of making it a political agenda, rational steps are being taken to spread more know how about saving electricity.
