1 Million Birth Control Pills Called Back Due To Wrong Packaging

It has been recently revealed that the medical firm Pfizer has ordered calling back as many as 1 million packs of birth control pills. This has been done after there were reports that the pills were apparently mixed inside the packs and this might mean that they aren’t effective any more. It would also mean that these infected medicines would tend to be potentially harmful for the users, and might even tend to put the women to the risk of unplanned pregnancies.

There has been the recall of as many as 14 lots of the Lo/Ovral tablets as well as 14 lots of another generic version of the same drug, which is made by Pfizer. It was revealed by Grace Ann Arnold, from Pfizer, that a total of 1 million packs that consisted of 28 tablets have been called back by the authorities.

The pills made by Pfizer, have been marketed by Akrimax Rx Products by Cranford in New Jersey. Arnold further revealed that there haven’t been any cases of health side effects seen so far due to this wrong medicine being circulated.

“An investigation by Pfizer found that some blister packs may contain an inexact count of inert or active ingredient- tablets and that the tablets may be out of sequence,” “However, consumers exposed to affected packaging should begin using a non-hormonal form of contraception immediately”, revealed the firm recently.

There is need for such technical errors to be avoided because they might tend to lead to a lot of health difficulties for patients. There is need for the medical and pharmaceutical companies to be more aware towards their efforts for curbing human errors in packing medicines
