It has been recently revealed that there has been a rise seen in jellyfish numbers in the oceans of the world. Some committees are even of the view that the rise of jellyfish numbers and their floating creatures on the surface of the seas might be a reason for a lot of mess and nuisance in the time to come. There is also need to take a note of the possible causes of the increase in their numbers recently.

The research has been done by Robert H. Condon from Dauphin Island Sea Lab, along with his teammates. The issue of the sudden bloom seen in the number of jellyfish has been fascinating scientists for a while now. There is a need to find the reasons for the same, and to ensure that this is safe for other aquatic animals and people living near the seas.

The changes witnessed in climatic conditions all over the world, as well as natural climatic cycles, is one of the biggest reasons for the rise in the numbers of these fishes.

They are also of the view that the numbers of jellyfish has seen a rise of fishing activities in the world. This has given rise to global warming in the ordeal.

Clearly, there are areas where jellyfish have increased; the situation with the Giant Jellyfish in Japan is a classic example. But there are also areas where jellyfish have decreased, or fluctuate over the decadal periods”, said Dr Cathy Lucas, a marine biologist at the University of Southampton.

There is a need for scientists to completely understand this trend with the help of further research and development, as only then the recent rise of Jellyfish in the waters of the world can be understood and the harm can be prevented.
