February is being celebrated as National Heart Month by many. During this month, people would be seen wearing scarlet colored clothes to remind others about the need of keeping a tab over the health of their heart.

In previous studies, it has been found that as compared to men, females are more vulnerable of coming in contact with heart diseases. However, many women tend to ignore the symptoms of heart diseases because of which their health worsens.

Heart diseases are preventable if attention is paid to the small things like lifestyle, eating habits and weight. If these factors are kept under control then the possibility of having heart diseases can be reduced.

With the pursuit of bringing awareness among the people about the ways by which healthy life of heart could be ensured, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) is working with the NHS, in the Rochdale borough. It has been informed that obesity is one of the main reasons behind heart diseases. Therefore, people are being encouraged to keep a tab over their by saying no to the fatty food products.

Sarah McStay from BHF said, “The key to keeping your heart healthy is to lead a healthy and active lifestyle by not smoking, having a healthy weight and having low blood pressure and cholesterol”. Most of the people find it hard to give up smoke, alcohol and to follow healthy lifestyle.

Therefore, this month, many organizations would be seen helping people and advising them as to how they can lead a healthy life. There are some environmental factors which promote heart diseases. These factors can be avoided through guidance of specialists. But in some cases heart diseases are caused due to family history, in which it becomes difficult to cure the diseases.
