Iran Launches Its First Earth-Observing Satellite

It has been reported that Iran has successfully launched Earth-observing satellite into the orbit. It has been reported that this particular mission was the first successful mission of the country. Last year, the country tries to put a monkey in space but it failed because of some technical reasons.

The satellite was launched by the Iranian Space Agency by using Safir 1-B rocket. The satellite has been named as “Promise of Science and Industry”. It has been informed that the satellite launched by Iran weighs 110 pounds.

The efforts of a student of Sharif University of Technology helped in designing the satellite. Iran is proud over the success of the mission. It has been informed that the satellites revolve six times over Iran. Initially, the satellite would be tested for a period of two months.

The advancement in the Iran space technology have made some concerned as it is believed that the satellites made by Iran could be used as weapon. The Iranian Space Agency officials are aiming at launching a human into space by 2020 and land an astronaut on the moon by 2025.

Iran has to do a lot in the space technology but there is no doubt that the country is putting its best efforts. It has been informed that Iran is planning to set up a national base for satellite launch. The first satellite by Iran was put in the space in 2009.

The President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is hopeful that the achievements in the space technology will improve relationship with other countries. He was reported as saying, “hopeful this act will send a signal of more friendship among all human beings”. Many countries are eyeing on Iran’s development and improvement in the field of space technology.
