Name of the Restaurant behind Salmonella Outbreak Withheld By the Authorities

An investigation over the outbreak of salmonella has found that a particular restaurant caused the outbreak because of which 20 people were admitted in hospitals. The name of the restaurant has been withheld, as it is believed by authorities that people has nothing to do with the name of the restaurant.

The investigation was called by the Food and Drug Administration. It has come to light that all those restaurants which were investigated for the outbreak of salmonella have not been identified by the investigators.

While commenting upon the policies of the Food and Drug Administration, a spokesperson of it said, “Companies voluntarily share information with CDC and FDA, so when we publish company or brand names and there is not a public health need to do, it could have the effect of discouraging such cooperation between our agencies and the food industry”.

As per the policies set by the government, the name of the companies, which may be a source of health risk for the public, are not disclosed. However, this particular policy has stirred outrage among the people who claim to have freedom of getting information.

Often taxpayers feel cheated when they pay tax and doesn’t get to know as to what the authorities, for whom they are paying, are up to. Still, what so ever the case may be, the Food and Drug Administration has made it clear that they won’t be disclosing the name of the restaurant unless and until the case is solved.

Although it has been informed that Food and Drug Administration won’t be disclosing the name of the alleged restaurant, rumors have been aired which claim that a chain of Yum Brand Inc has led to the outbreak of salmonella.
