Tesla Motors Inc. is expecting better sales in near future from its battery-powered cars. This well known maker of the battery-powered cars is run by entrepreneur Elon Musk who projected bigger revenue in the future, especially in the second half of this year with deliveries of the new Model S sedan.
Some statements came from the company yesterday, in which it talked about the fourth-quarter net loss of $81.5 million that the company faced, adding about the expected revenue in the year 2012. Tesla clearly said in its statement that it is expecting the revenue to cross $600 million, i. e. three times the figures of last year, and moreover 90% of the figures will be earned in the second half of the year.
“The bulk of 2012 revenue is Model S-related”, Musk said in a conference call yesterday. “I do expect that this will be significant, probably more significant than the sum of all deals we've done with Daimler to date”, he added.
Musk, 40, also said that the Palo Alto, California-based Tesla is planning to deliver around 5,000 cars this year.
Tesla has been named for inventor Nikola Tesla, who has always aimed to become the most dominant maker of premium electric vehicles.
According to the company, Model S sedan has already taken over the deliveries of $109,000 Roadster sports car which have now started ending with the production of the Model S. The new Model S is being offered at a $57,400 base price. The sale of the new car model will begin mid of this year and with this new project, the company aims bigger to boost the figures of annual vehicle deliveries by more than 10 times of the current pace.
