Strange Geological Activities Revealed Via an Image

Recently, the researchers of the NASA have revealed that through the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter a strange image of geological activity has been captured. In the image, the moon’s crust is seen in the process of forming tiny valleys.

These tiny valleys are regarded as graben. While commenting upon the images showing graben, Thomas Watters from the Center for Earth and Planetary Studies said that the surface of the moon is contracting because of the global climate change.

Thomas Watters said, “The graben tells us forces acting to shrink the moon were overcome in places by forces acting to pull it apart. This means the contractional forces shrinking the moon cannot be large, or the small graben might never form”.

It has come to light that such type of geological activities occurred on the surface of moon about 50 million years ago. The researchers informed that the geological activities of the moon show that the moon is still active.

Moon has been an interesting subject for space exploration. Past few months, water on the surface of the moon was found. In the coming 10 to 15 years, further research over moon would be conducted. Countries like the US and China have been planning for long for manned flights to the moon.

As water has been found on the surface of moon, researchers are of the view that in the coming years, life could be expected on moon. The soil samples were collected from the surface of moon by the Soviet Luna-16, Luna-20, and Luna-24 probes.

When it comes to space exploration, India is not behind. The Indian probe Chandrayaan-1 gained attention as it found ice on the surface of moon's North Pole. It is believed that as much as 600 million tons of water is stored deep inside the moon's North Pole

NASA to Build Universal Food Synthesizer to Create Real Meals

A 3D printer is a future device to create meals from cartridges full of carbohydrates, protein powders and oils. The concept might sound difficult to believe. But, NASA has moved ahead and just given a 3D printer firm, Systems & Materials Research Corporation, a six month $125,000 grant to figure out ways to develop a universal food...
