Asbestos Related Deaths On the Rise In The Forest Of Dean

While there is lot said about asbestos related deaths, it has been found that there is lot to be explored yet. With the recently study hitting the contours of the society, it has been revealed that number of deaths from asbestos in the Forest of Dean are rising at an unexpected rate, which is found to be more than the national average.

If reports are to be believed, there are as many as 24 people who have lost their lives due to the same in the last five years. The report showed that the death rate of mesothelioma is the region is 3.7 per 100,000 people as compared to 2.5, which is national average.

Looking at the current scenario, there are fair chances that there could be many more such cases found in the time to come. There is a need to make people aware about the potential consequences of exposure to even small ratio of asbestos.

"Places like the Forest of Dean, where there's traditionally been a lot of manual labour, are always more likely to have higher figures than somewhere like the Cotswolds”, said Forest of Dean District Council's health champion, councillor Frank Baynham who is of the view that this region has industries which could raise the risk level of such disease.

A significant support as far as extracting figures has come from by not-for-profit group APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers), which has been working in the same field to make sure that people who suffer from such illness are being given the desired level of support.

There are many people who despite being affected with the illness are struggling to get the deserving compensation. There is need for government to step in to make sure that such concerns are being managed well and are being attended within safe time.
