It has been recently revealed in a report that NASA might have to use the Russian spacecrafts for a longer time. They are currently using spacecrafts from the country for the transportation of astronauts to the International space station. The agency officials are trying their best to put these options to rest and be able to provide novel private capsules and rockets for the same purpose in the time to come. Approximately five years is what they are talking about here, and till that time, the U. S. NASA might still have to us the Russian aircrafts.
It was revealed by Charles Bolden from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration that there are steps being taken by the House Science Committee for the making of the additional aircrafts that could help the astronauts in the commutation and research in their field.
"Given current funding levels, we anticipate the need to purchase [Russian] crew transportation and rescue capabilities into 2017”. But in response to questions about longer-term plans, he said the agency wasn't guaranteed to have "commercial capability in time to support the space station”.
The NASA chief is of the view that these private transportation vehicles shall be available by the year 2017, and that is when the use of Russian aircrafts can be finally given a rest. There was a lot of change and shift of plans that the NASA has had to undergo after the budget for the year was announced and there were many cuts on funding for its ambitious projects. It remains to be seen how things go from here on and how they are going to be able to cope up with the shortage of funds and vehicles in the near future.
