Save Water While There Is Still Time

It has been recently revealed in a report that there is need for a long thinking to be done about the depleting water resources of the world. The U. N. is of the view that there is need for proper planning to use water wisely. There is need for major policy changes to be made which would make it possible use water judiciously, and help in the conservation of the same.

It was revealed by the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova that the fresh water isn’t being used judiciously, and this is something that might tend to cause a problem in the time to come.

The problem of depleting water resources will only deepen in the time to come, if efforts aren’t made to resolve the matter. It was revealed how 70% of the freshwater is being spent towards agricultural needs and this shall tend to increase in the years to come. Due to the rise in population and living standards, the farmers are soon going to grow more grains and fruits and vegetables and this shall also increase the irrigation needs for the same.

"Climate change will drastically affect food production in South Asia and Southern Africa between now and 2030. By 2070, water stress will also be felt in central and southern Europe”, said the report.

It is essential here that the world authorities join hands and work progressively towards making it possible to conserve water for the need of the future as well. It is essential that more and more water is saved for the time to come, because rain and water supplies are limited and uncertain. It remains to be seen how much heed is paid to this urge by the U. N. and whether there is water conservation done.
