It has been recently revealed that Yahoo has lodged a complaint against Facebook, according to which they have banned the latter from indulging in infringing ten patents. These include things like messaging as well as customizing the information on the social media site.

This lawsuit has come after a couple of weeks, from when Yahoo had asked Facebook to make proper licensing policies for the patents. The complaint is of the view that the innovative methods used by Yahoo, in many internet products and services are being used by Facebook, without legally personalizing them.

"Yahoo's patents relate to cutting edge innovations in online products, including in messaging, news feed generation, social commenting, presenting click fraud, and privacy controls. These innovations improve user experience, privacy and security and enhance the ability of advertisers to connect with users", said the complaint.

It was further added that the entire model on which Facebook works, is actually made from these innovative mean of Yahoo, and there is need for Facebook to solve these issues as soon as possible. They have used the techniques and methods that belonged to Yahoo, and this is why the lawsuit has been filed, after continuous warning about the same.

With many cases of controversy attached to Facebook right now, they would risk being in legal wars over patents as well. This might give Yahoo an extra edge and give it a chance to win the case in the time to come. It remains to be seen who wins these patent infringement wars in the time to come and finally calls it quits to these fights. Facebook is currently facing a number of other problems and has a lot to focus upon.
