Canada Proposed Warnings Regarding Cancer Threat to be Issued on Tan Beds

The reports suggest that the city of Ottawa will soon want to get a warning message issued on all tan beds regarding the hazards it can cause to one's health.

As per the reports, the health minister of Canada, Leona Aglukkaq stated that there will be a need of issuing warnings about skin cancer on the tanning beds in the upcoming future. The proposal is said to be raised as a result of several provinces prevented the tan bad utilization by young people.

The reports disclosed that the tan beds are already banned in Nova Scotia for the people under the age of 19 years. On the other hand, the provinces of Manitoba have passed a regulation that allows a person under 18 to use these beds only after having a written consent from his parents.

Reports have also revealed the measures being taken for banning the use of tan beds in Quebec. Similar abolishment was also seen in countries like France, Germany and Australia.

As per the research by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the use of indoor tanning tools before the age of 35 increases risk of developing melanoma skin cancer. The proposal do not emphasizes on the ban of the tanning beds but warns about their harmful effects on the people less than 18 years of age.
