UK Police Arrests 12 Men for Trying SAN Computer Hacking

A total of 12 men have been arrested recently by police force in London. All of them have been accused of giving a try to lacerate into Banco Santander SA (SAN) computers.

It is being said that the arrests have helped in prevention of a theft that could have caused a loss of millions of pounds.

The report finds that the detention is related to a device, which was there in an East London Santander branch’s computer. The same could not only have permitted a remote user to access the systems of the branch, but take them at the helm as well.

A statement has today been released by the Metropolitan Police Service, which revealed the aforementioned.

The Bank of England’s executive director for financial stability, Andy Haldane, said that the banks were facing cyber-security risks from the sophisticated hackers. Since, they were making attempts to access customer identities or funds.

He added that a thorough scrutiny should be conducted by the regulators on the state of major banks’ preparedness to guard against cyber-attacks.

“This was a sophisticated plot that could have led to the loss of a very large amount of money from the bank, and is the most significant case of this kind”, stated Mark Raymond, Detective Inspector.
