Pertussis Vaccine protects you and your Baby from Whooping Cough
Whooping Cough is an infectious bacterial disease that causes uncontrollable coughing. Newborns babies easily get affected by this infectious disease as compared to the adults.
Pertussis vaccine is used to cure whooping cough. Nearly about 2,200 people are being affected by this whooping cough bacterium in Texas, the current year. This number is still increasing and has no limit.
The current year, two little babies died because of Pertussis in Texas. Although the death rate for this infection is less, the number of infected infants being hospitalized in this state is high.
The number of people who are suffering from whooping cough has increased so far. It seems to be the worst when compared with that in the past 50 years, said Officials from the Texas Department of State Health services.
Certain diseases can be controllable. Chicken pox is amongst them, which is very uncommon disease. This is because small children can be immunized with the help of vaccination.
With the decrease in the immunity provided by the vaccination, there is a decrease in herd immunity.
Dr. Deborah McMaha, Allen County Commissioner, said that Pertussis is a common disease as it does not have herd immunity.
