Jay-Z and Beyonce's Secret Louvre Video Shoot in Paris

Beyonce and Jay-Z Music Video

What does one of the world's most famous paintings have in common with one of the world's most famous musical couples? The Mona Lisa, housed in Paris's famous Louvre art museum, has popped up in a Beyonce and Jay-Z music video. Even though this is one of the most popular tourist attractions in France, the pair was able to pull off the shoot while staying under the radar. An impressive task, considering millions of tourists and Parisians visit the museum yearly.
According to the Telegraph, Beyonce and Jay-Z have frequented the location during their travels in previous years. The pair both have a personal interest in Art History. At some point, a conversation sparked between them about the idea of incorporating the museum's art into their own work.
As the couple recently announced a duo album titled Everything is Love, there seemed to be no better time to put their dream of shooting a music video together at the Louvre into motion. The album has already climbed the charts, bringing in millions of dollars of revenue.
Perhaps the most notorious shot of the couple from the shoot is the pose in front of the Mona Lisa. Both Beyonce and Jay-Z are outfitted in vibrantly colored suits and wear a no-nonsense look across their faces. The music video is also receiving a lot of attention for its dramatic choreography, which is not uncharacteristic of Beyonce's style. Other famous paintings in the video include Veronese’s Wedding at Cana and The Raft of the Medusa by Géricault.
The video has received some different reviews and responses but has received praise from notable art critics and other editorials. Jay-Z and Beyonce are not the first to commission the Louvre as a filming location. Galleries inside the Louvre have appeared in major Hollywood films. What critics are praising most is the artistic value of the video itself, which is complemented well by its shooting location.
In addition to the video itself, fans and critics seem quite impressed by how discreetly Jay-Z and Beyonce pulled off this project. There didn't appear to be any paparazzi the day of the shoot and Parisian fans did not seem to be aware of the megastars touchdown in the city. In fact, only recently has news of the shoot become public knowledge.
